RC Tennis Instructors - 2023

Private and Semi-Private lessons can be scheduled with one of Racquet Club’s tennis pros. If you have a pro you’d like to request, you can email them directly; otherwise, you can email Dean at tennis@a2racquet.com to set up private lessons. 

Dean Boodakian

Dean’s playing career includes 4 years of collegiate varsity tennis, 4 straight DIII NCAA tournament appearances, first team all-conference singles & doubles, and numerous other individual accolades. Dean is currently in his 6th year as a Head Tennis Professional with the Liberty Athletic Club where he trains many of Ann Arbor’s top junior competitive players. Dean is entering his 5th season as Concordia University Ann Arbor’s head men’s tennis coach and is excited to be bringing in several of the University players to join the Racquet Club staff. His goal is to foster a positive learning environment and develop players in the Racquet Club tennis program for years to come.

Kaylee Tucker

Kaylee just completed her fourth season as the head women’s tennis coach at Concordia University Ann Arbor. She was a 4 year varsity player at the University where she holds the school’s career doubles win record, was captain her junior and senior year, and earned the MVP award her senior year. Kaylee also serves as a part-time instructor at Liberty Athletic Club. In addition to coaching, Kaylee is an English Professor at Concordia, after having earned a Bachelors in Secondary Education and a Masters in English.

Adam DiMaggio

Assistant Pro

Adam is a graduate of Concordia University of Ann Arbor where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. Adam played at the varsity level all 4 of his years at the University, primarily at the #1 doubles position. Adam is also a full time tennis pro at the Chippewa Tennis & Swim Club where he works with many Racquet Club juniors in the winter months. He is an avid runner who also enjoys spending his free time biking (mostly because he does not yet own a car).

Isaac Herrenkohl

Isaac will be entering his sophomore year of college at the University of Michigan. He spent his first year of college playing highly competitive D3 tennis for Occidental College in LA. Isaac was a 4 year high school varsity starter, playing as high as number one singles for Pioneer High School. Isaac is excited to be joining the staff and help spread his knowledge of competitive tennis to the members here at Racquet Club.

Montana Crawford

Montana is new to the Ann Arbor area but not new to tennis. She competed at the division 1 level for the University of Iowa while also completing her teaching degree in music education and violin performance. Montana is now the grade 6-12 Orchestra Director for the Monroe Public School District and coaches the HS jv girls tennis team She is excited to be helping out this summer at the racquet club and looks forward to working with the clubs top junior players.

Sophia Fornaris

Sophia has just finished up her second year pursuing a Movement Science degree in the school of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan. She was the top ranked girl in the under 18 division in the state of Florida. Sophia joined U of M as a 5 star recruit. She loves working with talented junior players and helping to develop their game.

Ayla Soofi

Alya has just completed her second year at the University of Michigan where she is studying Art & Design. Ayla’s family has been a part of the Racquet Club community for the last 13 years. She is a graduate of Huron High School where she played varsity tennis. Ayla has a passion for teaching tennis which is evident through her glowing demeanor when coaching Racquet Club’s young  players.

Gary Kade

Gary has been playing and teaching tennis for over 60 years. He served as the executive director of the Billie Jean King Tennis Centers of America. Gary recently won a gold medal in tennis at the Michigan Senior Olympics, and he will be competing in tennis, 5k, and 10k events at the National Senior Olympics this summer. Gary is an enthusiastic coach and an advocate of tennis being a lifelong sport. 

Arya Joshi

Arya has played tennis for ten years including four on Skyline High School’s Varsity Team. In his free time, he loves playing tennis, basketball, skiing, and traveling. He can’t wait to meet everyone this summer! 

Emmett Shaw

Emmett is a recent graduate of Huron High School where he played varsity tennis. Emmett grew up playing in the Racquet Club program and is excited to be helping out with the program for a second year. Emmett is a talented player on several of the Racquet Club USTA teams. He is currently studying Computer Science at Washtenaw.

Ethan Szabados

Ethan Szabados is now a graduate of Concordia University Ann Arbor, where he obtained his degree in Accounting. Ethan played varsity tennis for the University as well as being a dual sport athlete on the track team. Ethan now works full time up the street at 5th 3rd bank, but enjoys helping out with lessons and groups at Racquet Club in his free time.

Mahir Soofi

Mahir has been a long time player in the Racquet Club summer tennis groups. He is a varsity member of the Huron High School men’s tennis team. 

David Loh

David is a rising junior at Pioneer High school. He has been a starting varsity member on the team since his freshman year. David has been working on his tennis game with coach Dean for the past 5 years and David has been a racquet club member for the past decade.

Julia Caird

Julia will be an 11th grader at Huron High School in the fall. She has played on the varsity high school tennis team since freshman year. She has been playing tennis at Racquet Club since she was 5 years old. She also plays flute and piccolo in the Huron band and marching band.

Ana Wilkins

Ana is an 11th grader at Huron High School where she’s been on the varsity tennis team since freshmen year. She started playing at the age of 9 where Dean was her tennis coach. She has also participated in many programs at the Chippewa tennis club. Ana enjoys playing the Huron High School symphony band along with marching band too. 

Teddy Staebler

Teddy is a varsity member of the Greenhills High School tennis team. His high school team was division 4 state champs this past year. When not playing tennis, Teddy enjoys playing baseball and helping others.
